Antonio Johnson-Bey, 42, worked hard after his return from prison to find a job …

Antonio Johnson-Bey, 42, worked hard after his return from prison to find a job and create a stable family life that now includes his partner and a young child. He uses his lunch breaks in Washington, DC to attend church to give thanks for his release from prison and for the blessings he has received since. He also gives thanks for the simple fact that he is alive. “You never know what may happen in prison,” he says. “One minute you are here, next minute you might be murdered.” Photo by @gabrielabulisova and @markisa8 as part of our takeover of the @smithsonianmagazine IG account this week. #everydayincarceration #criminaljustice #incarceration #children #victims #prison #reform #light #absence #reentry #IGtakeover #photooftheday #picoftheday #documentaryphotography #documentary #photojournalism #massincarceration #prisonphotography #washingtondc #smithsonianmagazine #colorphotography #parents #prisonstodayatesp #prisonstoday #smithsonian #photography #children #families #faith #religion
